I am going to help to improve this racing forum and I have a few suggestions-comments.
There is too little factual information in this forum and therefore all the following comments by those who participate are based on nothing, even though on occasions some of you make it sound as though you have years and years or racing knowledge.
If you want quantity instead of quality of members in this forum then go ahead and continue this approach.
But there is really not enough substance of which we can all improve our knowledge on Hong Kong racing.
Is there anyone who knows something that most of us dont already know? I mean we can read 99% of this stuff through various media as it is.
Is there anybody "Serious" about racing in Hong Kong or are you all just followers-wannabe's who want to be a part of a forum to find friends??
Here is a start... Think about what makes racing in Hong Kong so special.
Conclusion: Cut the crap and start putting in useful information on Hong Kong racing that can be referenced in the long run, if not a lifetime. Do you think Oscar Chavez coming for the winter break will make a mark in Hong Kong racing history? K.K Lai should never have been raised. For all I know he is playing Mahjong with the traids in Wan Chai.

I try and make a reasonable living out of betting. Many, I am sure, are far more capable of picking winners but for me, racing comes in three totally seperate parts. The selection, the management of money, and the total control of ones own emotions. To make any money at all in racing requires a mastery of all three elements. My first suggestion always is to start on the emotional aspect.
Christopher.

JPD...thank you for your input.
Is there anything that you feel that you can contribute? There are close to 400 members here and many of them are interested in Hong Kong racing. Perhaps ,if you know something of value that others are unawares, then it may be beneficial and prudent to post here the knowledge that years of experience have ingrained apon your very being. That way you may be able to raise some good points worthy of discussion and you will be sharing the light. And a good tete'a'tete with bonus repartee may follow.
Unfortunatly, I am just a mug punter...so if you can help me raise my game then I would be most appreciative...as would all the other " mugs" that post here from time to time, I am sure.
Could you list clearly the types of things that you are after on this forum? If you let everybody know then perhaps we can all raise an effort to post something here of interest for everybody that may increase everyones knowledge of Hong Kong racing and perhaps lead to an increase in profits as well ( or in my case, less losses!) :p .
Anyway, here is an interesting snippet from todays news.
New facilities a boon to Hong Kong race fans
A wide range of new public facilities operated at Sha Tin from the beginning of the 2002-03 racing season following a 16 month rebuilding project at the track. “There was a concerted effort from all our staff, without which the works would not have been completed in time,” the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s chief executive Lawrence Wong said Mr Wong said the new facilities would help to maintain Hong Kong’s place as a world leader in horse racing, betting and sporting entertainment.
A feature of the work is a new airconditioned food court which offers 16 individually branded stalls providing Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai and Western menus. There are two new Media Halls, and patrons are able to buy special tickets, at a cost of $HK30 each for Sha Tin meetings and $HK20 for cross betting, to use the Media Halls. Each is equipped with custom-designed betting stations and cutting edge audio-visual facilities. The jockey club has also upgraded the facilities at Happy Valley. This reconstruction work has involved turning the fourth and fifth floor betting halls in the public enclosure into The Leading Edge, which is aimed at providing a brand new racing experience for customers.
