I saw on another post that someone was surprised to hear Agnes Digital was male. Yes, and this brings up something I'd like to point out about Japanese horse names.
They often use what is called a "kanmuri," literally "a crown." An owner traditionally decides on a kanmuri that always comes at the beginning of all his horses' names. Thus you get Agnes Digital, Agnes Tachyon, Agnes Flight and on and on. Narita Brian, Narita Top Road. Recently you're seeing kanmuri at the end of a name or the beginning with the same owner. Manhattan Cafe and Cafe Bostonian are owned by the same man but you see the Cafe link.
Racing clubs too use the kanmuri system. Horse names that start with Silk or Meiner or Meine. One major exception is the leading breeder and racing club, Shadai. They don't use kanmuri.
Agnes by the way was chosen by the owner because he was a really big fan of the singer Agnes Chan. I think she was from Hong Kong, came to Japan and became very popular here.
