Well the cat is finally out of the bag. Several Malaysian jockeys were banned for several months for taking drugs.

These were 2 of the cases -

"Jockey Cheng Ke Ten has been disqualified nine months for a positive urine test taken on Dec 25 last year."

"Apprentice Lai Kin Man has been disqualified for returning a positive swab during a race meeting in December last year. Lai’s urine sample taken during the Selangor Turf Club December Meeting on Dec 20, on analysis, revealed the presence “Ketamine”, an anesthetic, and a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

The Stewards conducted an inquiry into the above report today at the Selangor Turf Club, which was held in the absence of Lai who failed to attend.Lai, in his absence, was charged under MRA Rule 204(3)(ii) and disqualified for a period of one year with immediate effect. "

Malaysia is not the only racing place where there need to be crackdowns in a number of areas

Actually, the slightly reliable Malaysian jockeys are the new apprentices, especially Lou Ho, Alex Chew, Jacky Lim. I guess the older jockeys have learnt how to make plenty money the easier way.

Malaysian champion jockey I Azahar was kicked out for a 1 year for not trying his mount, a hot favorite. That was the most obvious pulling I have ever seen in my life, and it equalled Singapore's champion jockey J Saimee's atrocious no trying on Diamond and Ace.

I Azhar so far has not been as spectacular as before. In fact, I thought he look very old and haggard. It didnt look like he had been exercising himself enough during his 1 year suspension.
