The Licencing Committee of Macau Jockey Club has granted a Club Jockey's Licence to Irish Jockey Kieren Fallon.
From 1997 to 1999, Fallon was awarded British Champion Jockey three times in a row. He did not repeat his victory in 2000 due to an arm injury in a fall. However, he regained his title in 2001 when back in the saddle upon recuperation.
Fallon started as Apprentice Jockey in Ireland and moved to Britain in 1988. In 1997, he partnered with famous Trainer Henry Cecil as his stable jockey, and landed his first British Champion Jockey title with 202 winners the same year. In the following two years, Fallon defended his title with over 200 winners in each championship.

In 2000, Fallon started to work with another famous Trainer Sir Michael Stoute. Their partnership ended at the end of 2001.
Within the past five racing seasons, Fallon has amassed over 840 winners and a prizemoney in excess of GBP 11 millions (approx. HKD 1.2 billion). His major winners include the 1000 Guineas, 2000 Guineas, Derby, Oaks, Irish Oaks, Dubai Classic and Queen's Vase.
Fallon's licence will be effective from mid-February to mid-March 2002. He is expected to make his debut in the Taipa Racecourse on 16 February and will celebrate his 37th birthday in Macau on the 22nd of this month.
Fallon is married. He can handle a minimum riding weight of 118 lbs.

RACING Fallon tries luck in Macau
NICK PULFORD
British champion jockey Kieren Fallon begins a one-month stint in Macau today with eight rides on the 12-race card at Taipa. Fallon, 36, was due to arrive in Macau last night fresh from a successful two-month stint in Japan. The Irishman's recruitment is a coup for the Macau Jockey Club in its attempt to improve standards and its international profile. Ian Paterson, the MJC's director of racing, said: "Kieren is keen and positive about riding in Macau and we're looking forward to having him here. His record speaks for itself. He's committed to ride here for a month, but he might stay for two months if things are going well and depending on his commitments in Britain."
Fallon, who has been British champion jockey for four of the past five seasons, also rode successfully in Hong Kong for three seasons at the end of the 1990s, but was unavailable last winter due to a serious shoulder injury and was not invited back this season. Fallon's arrival in Macau comes hot on the heels of the departure of Christophe Soumillon, the young Belgian who succeeded Gerald Mosse in the prestigious job as the Aga Khan's retained jockey in France.
Soumillon, 20, who won last year's French Derby aboard Anabaa Blue, was due to stay in Macau until the end of February, but left this week after a highly successful two-month stint which yielded 32 winners.
"Christophe did very well here, but he got a three-day ban which would have left him with only three more meetings when he came back, so he asked if he could leave early," Paterson said. "He is still young and was getting a bit homesick, but he told us he would be happy to come back for the Macau Derby on April 7 if he hasn't got any commitments in France."

You can bet Fallon will ride plenty of winners. And how about Shane Scriven - he too should be a jockey to follow. When he's fair-dinkum, he's very good. Only two things have stopped him from being a world-class jockey...his weight and his attitude. I'm also not expecting Fallon to try on every favourite he rides ????
