In connection with the Race Meeting held at Taipa Racecourse on Tuesday, 19th November 2002, I report as follows:
Race 4
The Stewards enquired into an incident in the "Weighing enclosure" involving Jockeys J Byrne (Lucky Lad) and E Rosa da Silva (First Horse). Evidence disclosed that approaching the 200 metres Lucky Lad was taken to the outside of Rare Gem's (Apprentice C C Chao) to continue going forward and shortly after Jockey J Byrne the rider of Lucky Lad accidentally struck Jockey E Rosa da Silva the rider of First Horse with his whip. Then after the race Jockey J Bryne the rider of Lucky Lad proceeded to weigh in at the placegetters scales. At the same time Jockey E Rosa da Silva was weighed in at the non-placegetters scales. Jockey E Rosa da Silva then called Jockey J Byrne who then walked down to Jockey E Rosa da Sivla. Shortly after J Byrne turned to walk back to the Jockey's Room, however, Jockey E Rosa da Silva then struck Jockey J Byrne with his whip and punched him. Jockey J Byrne then pushed Jockey E Rosa da Silva with the two rider then grappling before being separated. The enquiry was adjourned to 9:30am on Thursday, 21st November 2002
