What a dud this new Souths coach McRae is turning out to be. He has spent the last few years coaching in Pommie land and picked up some bad habits. He selects using the same principles the English cricket selectors used to. That is he starts with his best team. But then when he gets beaten a few times he just sacks people and replaces them with worse players on the basis that something needs to be done. The team he picked for the St George game yesterday was the weakest Souths have fielded all year with the halfback Joe Williams dropped and replaced by some young kid who did not show a lot. If you are going to drop Williams you have to replace him with someone better not just go and pick a worse team. The result was a 42-10 thumping by Saints.

The following quotes come from an AAP report after the match "McRae said there were some positives to come out of the loss to the Dragons.

"I thought from a team point of view we played a little better both defensively and offensively, (but) that won't reflect on the scoreboard," he said.

"People might think I've come from another planet or something.""

He got the last bit right. Souths came last the last few seasons and only bought about 3 new players this year (Logan, Hegarty, Cusack) so they have to expect to lose most of their games instead of chopping people and picking worse teams.

How many will turn up for the GF? These two teams were available for 150+ and 25 on BF throughout the season. :(
