I just visited the HKJC web site, and noticed that you can subscribe to the eWin gambling site. Obviosly part of the HK tote.
Interesting that HKJC is so active in trying to bar internet betting in HK when they in fact have a site themselves.
OK, the requirements for registration with HKJC site are that you must be HK resident, hold a HK ID card and over 18. Now an interesting point, If you are a Hong Kong resident and are living elsewhere, say in Aus, or Canada, then you can legally bet in Hong Kong over the internet.
But, according to the HKJC, they wish to make it illegal for HK residents to bet outside of Hong Kong.
Senario, you are a holder of an Aus passport, you live in HK and have residency and a HK ID card, then you will be breaking the law (if it is enacted through legisation) if you happen to bet with centrebet in darwin, your country.
Am I missing some thing here or is there a double standard?
Why the HKJC and government don't open up their betting facilities for all and sundry, is beyond reasonable logic. If they started on soccer betting and the meetings in HK and Macau, I'm sure there would be little concern over the falling turnover that is being blamed on internet betting.
