An impressive performance by Cosmo Thousands last Sunday at Nigata means he gains the honour of becoming our first Japanese 2yo horse to follow.
Cosmo Thousands won by 8 lengths in record time on August 3, 2003 over 1000m on turf (firm, fine ) At weight for age starting at 4.10 odds. The jockey was Teruo Eda and the horse is trained by Fuyuki Tago.

Interesting 2yo result last weekend here. The Japanese 2yo record for 1000m (turf) was broken by a 2yo out of the first crop by a little known US stallion "Treasure Island". Treasure Island was imported and syndicated for approx $1.3m a couple of years ago. He has just 28 foals in his first year - but you don't get much better starts to a career! First foal not only winning, but by 8 lengths and in (nation-wide) record time!!
Treasure Island is well bred too. By Danzig out of a US G1 winning Mr Prospector mare. His sister is also a multi-G1 (US) winner. He himself won 2 from 6 - running 2nd in a G2. He beat the handy Lemondrop Kid twice from two attempts too apparently.
I believe he stands for about $6k this year, but will definitely be a stallion worth following - need to see if he can keep it up.
