Hail The Indian Malaysian Heroes (http://balankumarpremakumaran.blogspot.com/2009/01/hail-indian-malaysian-heroes.html)

While we we sympathise with one Mr Kugan's death in custody, what appeared to be a criminal case has been politicised and turned into a racial issue.

While politicians, especially Indian politicians denied this, their presence, statements and actions clearly shows that they were trying to politicise and turned it into a racial issue.

Bloggers on the other hand joined in from far, only to slam the police and BN. I have to agree that that the Selangor Police chief and the Home minister made some stupid statements and jumped the gun without having proper facts in hand. They should have just let investigation take place before commenting.

If anyone should resign, it should be the Chief of the Taipan Police Station. And the government need to implement the proposed Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPMC) without further delay.

Innocent Until Proven Guilty?

What is more troubling is that the victim is a suspect in car theft and armed roberry cases. He was reportedly led police to recover 13 stolen vehicles. It was also said that Kugan's death was premeditated in order to cover up the case as it was rumoured that several high ranking police officers had a hand in the car theft syndicate. These are all speculation (since there are no evidence) or even made up to make Kugan look like a hero.

Most politicians, bloggers and groups argue that Kugan is innocent until proven guilty. Well , agreed but I can't help but think how these bloggers and politicians defend Kugan stoutly that he is innocent until proven guilty but had no shame to accuse others of abuse of power, corruption etc without the victims being even charged in court.

For example several bloggers, some of them are lawyers, who highlighted that Kugan is innocent until proven guilty are the same ones who claims that Najib is corrupt, abused power or even having affair with the mongolian on the basis of few Statuary Declaration. Why not the same treatment is metted for people like Najib. They have judged Najib even without any charges being filed against him. And certainly Najib is not alone.

The same applies with the opposition held states who claimed that the previous government was corrupt, eg Penang and Selangor. Until today not a single charge has been filed to prove that the previous state governments were corrupt, but Anwar Ibrahim and friends are still on their roadshow telling all kinds lies. If this is not injustice and hypocrisy, I don't know what is!

I guess 'Innocent until proven guilty' only applies to opposition and anything related to their agenda, like Kugan and his death.

Racial Issue?

We cannot but help thinking that this case has been turned into a racial issue, with only Indian politicians involvement, presence of banners with racial tone and not forgetting Hindraf's involvement and their call to Indians to participate in the funeral procession, which is certainly not a requirement, Hindu wise.

Why is there a need for Penang Deputy Chief Minister to get involved if not for race reasons. Why PKR & DAP Indian MPs and MIC deputy Ministers, except for maybe Senator Murugiah, who hold the Public Complaints portfolio, needs to be there throughout the drama, even after the AG's office have classified the case as murder. Why Anwar Ibrahim visited the familywith such urgency, oh! i forgot, why not since Anwar is Indian Malaysian's de-facto communal (http://balankumarpremakumaran.blogspot.com/2008/12/like-many-others-i-am-quite-baffled.html)leader.

MIC Youth, in a statement claimed that they were the first ones to assist the Kugan's family and expressed disappointment that the opposition Indian leaders hijacked the whole issue. How sad and how unapologetic they are in their pursuit of political mileage.

The presence of PKR, DAP, MIC Indian politicans could only be for the reasons of gaining political mileage and being seen as champions of the Indians.

Political mileage - much to gain, too precious to ignore

Where were they when a single mother, an Indian (http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2009/1/28/nation/3131028&sec=nation), lost her 4 children, who drowned recently? This is by far, a devasting loss? Or when an innocent Indian boy was tortured to death (http://malaysiacrimewatch.lokety.com/page/3/)recently? The answer, there's nothing to gain, politically.

Nik Aziz even offered to present cash aid (http://www.suarakeadilan.com/sk/berita-utama/2009/01/1988)to the family, who is said to be reasonably well to do. The selangor state government reportedly offered to bear the funeral cost, which includes a Golden Mercedes used to transport the coffin during the procession.

Why did the same politicians offer any aid to the single mother, have procession or demand for protection of beach goers or innocent childrens, for example ? The answer is the same, there's nothing to gain, politically.

Where were they when policemen and public were killed by criminals, did they get a mercedes hearse, courtesy of the politicians and did the MPs or opposition leaders visit policemen killed or injured in the line of duty? The answer is still the same, there's nothing to gain, politically.

Indian Politicians, from all sides, DAP, PKR and MIC needs to remember that they were elected mainly with votes from non-Indians. If they think they want to be an Indian Hero by involving themselves unnecessarily in this and any similar Indian related drama, think again..I am sure they will be voted out in the next elections. This is especially for Indian leaders in PKR and DAP, who were supposedly multi-racial parties.

Root Cause

While the reforms should be instituted in the police force and government should implement the proposed Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPMC), it cannot be denied that Indians are by far the most involved in crime, population percentage wise.

These Indian heroes (PKR, DAP, MIC), if they are really interested to be the communal champion, should instead focus on why these youth end up in crime. The usual reasons given are discrimination, marginalisation and all the crap.

Any able bodied malaysians can survive in Malaysia without turning to crime. Can any of these Indian heroes or their communal hero deny that?

David Kwan - discussion on Malaysia and Singapore horse racing tips and news.

SuperCzar - Race 10 (http://www.winning-horse.com/58/superczar-race-10.shtml)

January 21st, 2008 The horse I want to talk about this week is Superczar, trained by D Hill and ridden by M Gallagher. The finishing was superb !

The horse is like travelling 100km/h. The front pack battling like crazy … and Gallagher smart enough to move the horse outside to avoid the traffic jam and whip his way to winner.

Here is the screenshot I obtained from the video replay …

Saimee hits 1,000th win in Malaysia (http://www.winning-horse.com/53/saimee-hits-1000th-win-in-malaysia.shtml)

November 6th, 2007 Congratulations …..

Top jockey Saimee Jumaat reached a career 1,000-win milestone on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur when the well-backed Grisham crossed the line first in Race 5.

Saimee, who returned from a one-year disqualification in September, has been in rattling form on both sides of the Causeway. He has already notched up 16 wins at Kranji with his latest haul being a treble on Friday night.

After that meeting, the 35-year-old Singaporean headed up to Kuala Lumpur just three wins short of the tonne on the Malayan Racing Association (MRA) circuit. He bagged a winner (Toll The Bell) on Saturday, followed by a treble (he also scored on Medicine Man and Zhen Dao) on Sunday.

Rowing: Oxford master Dark Blue arts to harness power with talent

Crew assembled from many nationalities look ready to provide a rare cohesion

Today's Boat Race promises a gruelling duel between powerbrokers, whatever the weather. Oxford and Cambridge spent the week familiarising themselves with the Putney to Mortlake course and testing in atrocious conditions. Near-disaster struck Cambridge on Thursday when their No 7, Ryan Monaghan, suffered a back twinge and was dropped in the afternoon. But yesterday he was reinstated for rigorous rough-water tests and pronounced fit to row by the coach, Chris Nilsson.

Monaghan, who rowed for Cambridge last year, knew what to expect. At the crew announcement a few weeks ago the American said his coach was "beating us into the ground and hoping we don't get injured, giving us a day to recover and doing it over again. It's both scientific and mental preparation. You have to be tough as nails to get through it".

Oxford's treatment of waves along Putney Reach, the start of the course, was masterly. They are an exceptionally heavy and tall crew who move their bodies in unison as well as their blades, an unfamiliar Dark Blue trait of late. You would not believe that such a smooth unit has been created out of a bunch of individuals from Poland, Croatia, Holland, New Zealand, Britain and the United States.

Oxford are powerful and have harnessed their talents – five of them rowed in Beijing. They have won all four of their side-by-side encounters. But they should not, and probably do not, feel safe. Cambridge have no Olympians but do have several former junior and Under-23 inter-nationals who will be likely to strut their stuff in London in 2012.

Under their assistant coach, Rob Baker, they trounced Oxford's crews in the Fours Head of the River Race in November. The eight's results in match races are mixed, losing to Leander and finishing one-all against the Tideway Scullers "Great Eight", who toppled Leander in the Head of the River Race. So Cambridge can move, too. In even worse weather than Oxford encountered, they started two lengths behind their reserves, Goldie, and caught them by the Black Buoy, an impressive if water-shipping exercise that required cool heads and steady-as-a-rock control.

In the coaching department, Sean Bowden is in his 10th year with Oxford while the New Zealander Nilsson is new to Cambridge. But he is not new to the Boat Race, having worked as assistant to Bowden in the 1990s, as well as boasting an impressive CV with the New Zealand and US teams.

Both crews have men who have done this before. Colin Smith, Oxford's president and a silver medal winner in the British eight in Beijing, is described by his coach as reassuring under pressure. "He's a grafter," says Bowden. "He battled against selection to prove himself as a worthy international rower. Never makes an excuse."

Smith says: "The best thing has been seeing two trial crews come together from being not a squad to a really good squad. Sean is more about shaping than I am, but it's fantastic to be at the helm of these people and to see them shaping up in the way that they are. It's been a completely crazy year for me so far since the Olympics, and it's all going to come down to today's result. That will make or break the year."

Henry Pelly, Cambridge's president, feels different about the race than he did in 2008. "Last year I was probably the strongest man in the crew at seat racing. This year I'm one of many rather than top of the pile."

Cambridge's one advantage is a cox who is very experienced on this tidal course. Rebecca Dowbiggin steered them to victory by a length and a quarter in 2007 and lost by six lengths last year, when Cambridge ran out of wind halfway. This boat, she says, "has flashes of really, really good stuff".

But flashes will not be enough, and she cannot do much if Oxford pull the heavier Colin Groshing out into the lead in the first mile. Groshing learned his coxing on the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, a totally different kettle of fish to the Thames. "I realise my job is so mental that I need to be as sharp as ever," he says. "My mind is my greatest asset. They trust me to make good decisions for them." This may be a case of "Let the best minds win".

The Boat Race will be shown on 1TV1 today, starting at 3.40pm

Barbaro’s brother Nicanor runs 2nd again

Mar 28, 4:09 pm

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Barbaro’s little brother is still waiting for his first win.

Nicanor finished second in an eight-horse maiden race Saturday at Gulfstream Park, falling short of breaking his maiden for the third straight time.

A full brother to the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner, who was badly injured in the Preakness and eventually succumbed several months later, Nicanor simply couldn’t run down Glittermans Cartel in the stretch. The 3-5 favorite finished second for the second straight outing.

He was 10th in his debut after taking a misstep at the start of a race Jan. 31.

Nicanor’s connections are the same team that were behind Barbaro three years ago: The Dynaformer colt is owned by Roy and Gretchen Jackson, and trained by Michael Matz. Next time Bro...
